Spreading Smiles: Our First Social Responsibility Event

At Heliconia, we recently celebrated a special milestone with our first social responsibility event, which was close to our hearts. We had the privilege of spending time with a group of extraordinary children who have been deeply affected by various forms of violence. Our goal was simple yet profound: to bring them joy, creativity, and hope.

We took this opportunity to sponsor a child from the Ciudad de Dios home, located in Chía, just north of Bogotá, Colombia. Ciudad de Dios is a sanctuary for children, where love, service, and prayer form the foundation of their lives. Each year, thousands of children, like the ones we met, are victims of sexual violence in Colombia—over 334,000 children. Though our event may not have been large, it was a day full of emotions and smiles, a reminder of the power of giving back.

The afternoon was filled with vibrant activities. We organized crafting sessions, allowing the kids to explore their artistic talents and express themselves freely. Laughter filled the air as they painted, created, and enjoyed the process of letting their imaginations run wild. We also had the joy of gifting each child an outfit, complete with thoughtful touches that made their day even more memorable.

The highlight of the event was a live circus performance by talented artists, bringing pure joy and entertainment to the children. The laughter and excitement in the air were a much-needed escape from their daily struggles, serving as a reminder of the incredible power of community and compassion.

We know that we’re just beginning, and that our efforts may seem small in the grand scheme of things. However, today we were able to gift this incredible community a day filled with joy, connection, and hope—and we are excited to keep this dream alive. Your support makes events like this possible.
